Why this round matters
This is the first Review Officer and Assistant Review Officer round since 2023, when 411 posts drew 1,076,004 applicants. The commission said the vacancy count has since risen to 501 after Assistant Review Officer vacancies increased following internal promotions, and the posts are spread across Uttar Pradesh government departments including the Secretariat and the Board of Revenue.
One caution belongs in the same paragraph as the vacancy count. The commission has indicated that the number of vacancies may increase or decrease depending on departmental requirements, so 501 is the announced figure, not a promise that every post will stay open at that number. The advertisement also says that requisitions for similar posts received before the preliminary result is declared may be added to this recruitment.
Post-wise break-up
The detailed advertisement gives the full break-up: 495 posts under General Recruitment and 6 under Special Recruitment. The largest shares are Sahayak Samiksha Adhikari in the U.P. Secretariat (261) and Samiksha Adhikari in the U.P. Secretariat (122).
| Post and department | Posts |

| Samiksha Adhikari, U.P. Secretariat | 122 |

| Samiksha Adhikari, Board of Revenue, U.P. | 6 |

| Manager, Care-Taker, Receptionist (Swagati) and Store Keeper, U.P. Public Service Commission | 1 each |
| Sahayak Samiksha Adhikari (Account), U.P. Secretariat (Special Recruitment) | 6 |
| Total | 501 |
Who can apply
The commission said applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from a recognised university. Certain posts carry extra conditions, such as a computer-related qualification or an equivalent diploma, and the detailed advertisement sets out which condition applies to which post. Candidates must be aged between 21 and 40 years as of 1 July 2026, which the commission expresses as birth between 2 July 1986 and 1 July 2005, with age relaxation as per the rules for the categories the advertisement covers. For persons with disabilities, the commission sets the maximum age at 55 years.
These are Uttar Pradesh state government posts, so the first check is the eligibility, age and reservation position in the detailed advertisement itself: post conditions differ, and an application filed against the wrong post or without the required extra qualification will not survive scrutiny later.
Pay and selection
Pay runs from Level-5, at Rs 29,200 to Rs 64,700, up to Level-8, at Rs 47,600 to Rs 1,51,100, depending on the post. Selection runs through a preliminary written examination and a main written examination, with a typing test for Assistant Review Officer posts, followed by medical examination and document verification. The preliminary examination is objective type with negative marking of one third of a mark for each wrong answer, and the commission will take fifteen times the number of vacancies forward to the main examination. Candidates must score at least 35 per cent in the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates and 40 per cent for other categories, and selection is made on total marks in the main examination. Note that the main examination carries a separate fee, payable only by candidates who clear the preliminary stage: Rs 225 for Unreserved, EWS and OBC candidates, Rs 105 for SC and ST candidates of U.P., and Rs 25 as processing fee for physically handicapped candidates of U.P. The examination date and admit card date are not announced yet.
How to apply
Start with the detailed advertisement, then work through these steps in order:
- Open uppsc.up.nic.in and read the A-4/E-1/2026 detailed advertisement, confirming eligibility, age and reservation status for the post you want.
- Complete the commission's One Time Registration on the portal, since the registration number is needed to submit any application.
- Log in, open the A-4/E-1/2026 application, and fill in personal, educational and category details exactly as they appear in your documents.
- Upload the photograph, signature and other documents in the format the advertisement specifies.
- Pay the fee online and submit the form before 26 November 2026.
- Save and print the confirmation page, and use the correction window up to 3 December 2026 if any detail needs fixing.
Apply only through uppsc.up.nic.in. The commission does not collect applications or fees through agents, and anyone demanding payment to secure a post is not acting for the commission. Treat any such demand as a scam and ignore it.
What to watch next
Two things are still to come from the commission: the examination date and the admit card schedule. Both will appear on uppsc.up.nic.in, and that site, not any aggregator page, is the place to check for changes, including any change to the vacancy count. Keep registration details safe and revisit the site for the schedule.
